Terrorist advance in Upper Uele forces hundreds of people to leave everything behind to save their lives
Comboni missionaries working in the north of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have reported a terrorist offensive in the province of Haut-Uele since the end of May, with hundreds of people fleeing and being taken in by Catholic missions.
Many villages have been virtually deserted. When the guerrillas arrive at the deserted villages, they burn down the houses and shops, and if they find anyone who has refused to flee, they kill them, Father Claudino Gomes tells the AIS Foundation.
